Texas Instruments TPS1213Q1EVM Driver Evaluation Module (EVM)

Texas Instruments TPS1213Q1EVM Driver Evaluation Module (EVM) allows reference circuit evaluation of the TPS1213-Q1 smart high-side driver. The TPS1213-Q1 device has an operating range of 3.5V to 40V and a main path gate drive with 1.69A strength to enable switching parallel MOSFETs in high-current designs. The Texas Instruments TPS12130-Q1 has a low-power mode to support always ON loads while consuming 28µA (typical). Only the low-power path FET is kept ON in low-power mode, and the main FETs are turned OFF to save IQ. The device provides adjustable short-circuit protection with configurable auto-retry and latch-off fault behavior.

Features

  • 3.5V to 40V operating voltage range
  • 15A to 50A adjustable short-circuit protection using onboard jumpers
  • Current sensing using MOSFET VDS
  • Programmable short-circuit protection delay
  • LED status indication for fault and active mode

Required Equipment

  • Power supplies - one adjustable power supply with 0V to 40V output and 0A to 50A output current limit
  • Loads - one resistive load or equivalent that can tolerate up to 50A DC load at 40V and is capable of an output short
  • Meters - one DMM minimum needed
  • Oscilloscope - a DPO2024 or equivalent, three 10 times voltage probes, and a DC probe

Applications

  • Automotive 12V BMS
  • Power distribution box
