Microchip Technology MCP2518FD External CAN FD Controllers

Microchip MCP2518FD External CAN FD Controllers offer a small footprint and SPI Interface, allowing an easy connection. A CAN FD channel can be added to a microcontroller either lacking a CAN FD peripheral or does not have the required CAN FD channels. The MCP2518FD Controllers supports both CAN frames formats as specified in ISO 11898-1:2015; these are the Classical (CAN2.0B) and CAN Flexible Data Rate (CAN FD) formats. The MCP2518FD features a Low Power Mode, reducing leakage current to 10µA over the entire temperature range. Additionally, the SEQ field Transmit Message Object and Transmit Event FIFO Object has been extended from 7 bits to 23 bits. The device interfaces directly with microcontrollers operating at 2.7V to 5.5V and connects directly to high-speed CAN FD transceivers.
