Microchip Technology EVB-PCI12000C-M.2 Evaluation Board

Microchip Technology EVB-PCI12000C-M.2 Evaluation Board demonstrates an M.2 Key E interface utilizing the PCI12000C PCIe switch. The board converts one PCIe port from a standard M.2 Key M connection into two separate PCIe ports available via an M.2 Key E connector. This known working example helps developers understand different M.2 configurations and accelerate PCI12000C integration.

The Microchip EVB-PCI12000C-M.2 Evaluation Board features PCIe fanout, packet switching, and UART functionality. PCIe Precision Time Measurement supports timing coherence across the switching function, including applications that require PTM between a root complex and its endpoints. An onboard I2C serial EEPROM supports system configuration and function customization.

The board supports Linux®, Microsoft® Windows®, and Android®, with additional options for QNX, VxWorks, and FreeBSD. MPLAB® Connect provides advanced configuration and diagnostics, including PCIe virtual eye-diagram visualization. Microchip has established the platform through the application layer for security and AI, including examples such as Home Assistant and Frigate NVR.
