It used to be that a single sensor could consume more space than an entire modern control board. However, in today’s high-tech environments, like semiconductor fabrication plants and advanced factory automation systems, space is measured in millimeters and pressure is maintained at the Pascal (Pa) level. In this week’s New Tech Tuesdays, we explore the critical role of micropressure sensor technology in meeting the space constraints of the industrial sector. Micropressure sensing measures very small pressure differences—typically a few hundred Pa or less. This level of sensitivity is non-negotiable in environmental control, where a slight fluctuation in differential pressure can indicate a breach in a cleanroom or a critical clog in a ventilation system.

An increasing pressure drop across a filter is the earliest sign of filter clogging, allowing a maintenance team to schedule a replacement well before the air quality or gas flow is compromised. Similarly, measuring the pressure in an exhaust duct provides a reliable method for detecting exhaust fan irregularities, signaling a motor failure or belt break before a dangerous backup occurs.

This dual-output capability supports both emergency control and long-term data analysis, which is essential for process optimization and regulatory compliance.
