ESD Protection Solutions

Littelfuse provides a wide range of products that protect components from ESD threats. ESD threats are extremely fast, low-energy events that can wreak havoc on electronic equipment. Trends in reduced chip protection and harsher end-user environments are requiring the need for enhanced protection solutions. Littelfuse produces varistors, suppressors, indicators, and more so users can find the right protection to ensure the long-term reliable operation of applications.

Transient Voltage Suppressor (TVS) Diodes

Littelfuse TVS (Transient Voltage Suppression) Diodes are a broad range of circuit protection products designed to protect electronic circuits against transients and overvoltage threats such as EFT (electrically fast transients) and ESD (electro-static discharge). Lightning strikes, inductive load switching, and ESD cause electrical over-stresses associated with the transmission on data lines and electronic circuits. Offered in a variety of surface mount and through-hole circuit board mounting formats, the TVS Diode portfolio includes high peak pulse current and peak pulse power options up to 20kA and 30kW, respectively. Littelfuse TVS Diodes are chosen for the fast response time (low clamping voltage), lower capacitance, and low leakage current. TVS Diodes are available in both unidirectional (unipolar) or bidirectional (bipolar) diodes circuit configurations. 

General-Purpose ESD Protection SPA Diodes

Littelfuse General-Purpose ESD Protection SPA Diodes protect electronics from transient voltage damage. The wide selection offers diodes that meet industry requirements to solve multiple exposure issues. Typical applications for Littelfuse General-Purpose ESD Protection SPA Diodes include 10/100/1000 Ethernet, DC powerlines, and general I/O.

Circuit Protection for IoT Wearable Devices

Littelfuse Circuit Protection for IoT Wearable Devices provide protection and are also extremely small in size to be compatible with the small form factor of IoT Wearables. For general purpose circuits (buttons, audio, etc.), the SP1013 and SP1014 are available in 0201 size; for the ultimate in small size, the SP1020 and SP1021 are 01005 size. For high-frequency circuits (RF), the SP3022 is available with 0.35pF and 0201 size.

TVS Silicon Protection Arrays (SPA)

Littelfuse Silicon Protection Array (SPA®) TVS Diodes are designed to protect electronics from very fast and damaging voltage transients, such as lightning and electrostatic discharge (ESD). These diodes offer an ideal protection solution for I/O interfaces and digital and analog signal lines in computer and consumer portable electronics. Littelfuse TVS diodes offer a broader application use and improved impulse protection performance over conventional diodes.

SP1053 & SP1054 Unidirectional Discrete TVS

Littelfuse SP1053 & SP1054 Unidirectional Discrete TVS avalanche breakdown diodes are fabricated in a proprietary silicon avalanche technology and protect each I/O pin to provide a high level of protection for electronic equipment from electrostatic discharge (ESD). These robust diodes can safely absorb repetitive ESD strikes at ±30kV (contact discharge, IEC 61000-4-2) without performance degradation. Additionally, each diode can safely withstand 1.0A (SP1053) or 2.5A (SP1054) surge (8/20 waveshape as defined in IEC 61000-4-5 2nd edition) at a very low clamping voltage.

Remote Control Systems

Littelfuse Remote Control Systems offer solutions for load switching, joysticks, on/off switches, and USB protection. These systems provide the protection IC (eFuse) with USB-C® for overcurrent, overvoltage, and short-circuit protection for USB input. The remote control systems also provide a TVS diode array for ESD protection of the USB data lines (high-speed interface). These systems support power on/off, mode selection, user interface input, and joystick input/directional control for UAV operation. The remote control systems offer load switch ICs for power distribution control, subsystem on/off switching, and battery load management. Typical applications include ISR, military, border surveillance, agriculture, delivery/logistics, inspection, and public safety.
