FLEXITERM® Multilayer Ceramic Capacitors

KYOCERA AVX FLEXITERM^® Multilayer Ceramic Capacitors (MLCCs) are designed to enhance the mechanical flexure and temperature cycling performance of a standard ceramic capacitor with an X7R dielectric. The FLEXITERM technology meets the demand for components with enhanced mechanical strength and flexibility when used in harsh environment applications, such as automobiles, and in applications where temperature variation exists. KYOCERA AVX FLEXITERM MLCCs provide up to 5mm of flexure without internal cracks, 3mm above the 2mm industry standard. In addition, these advanced MLCCs reduce circuit board flex failures and offer increased temperature cycling performance of 3,000 cycles and beyond, a base metal electrode system, and automotive and commercial grade product selections.

X8R / X8L Dielectric MLCCs

KYOCERA AVX X8R / X8L Dielectric Multilayer Ceramic Capacitors provide excellent reliability and are ideal for various industrial high-temperature applications. X8R material has a capacitance variation of ±15% between -55°C and +150°C. The X8L material has capacitance variation of ±15% between -55°C to +125°C and +15/-40% from +125°C to +150°C. Typical applications for KYOCERA AVX X8R / X8L MLCCs include drilling monitoring systems, automotive under-the-hood sensors, and high-temperature electronic modules.

Automotive FLEXITERM® & FLEXISAFE® MLCCs

KYOCERA AVX FLEXITERM^® and FLEXISAFE^® MLCCs feature enhanced mechanical strength and are ideal for automotive and medical applications, depending on the model. These MLCCs satisfy the requirement for enhanced mechanical strength by ensuring electrical integrity is maintained while external forces are being applied to the component. KYOCERA AVX FLEXITERM MLCCs provide up to 5mm of flexure without internal cracks.

AVX X8L 150ºC MLCCs

The AVX X8L 150ºC MLCCs are a range of multilayer ceramic capacitors designed for use in applications up to 150ºC. These capacitors are manufactured with an X8L dielectric material that has a capacitance variation of ±15% between -55ºC to 125ºC and +15/-40% from +125ºC to +150ºC. The need for X8L performance has been driven by customer requirements for parts that operate at elevated temperatures. The AVX X8L 150ºC MLCCs provide a highly reliable capacitor with low loss and stable capacitance over temperature. The X8L are ideal for automotive under the hood sensors and various industrial applications such as drilling monitoring system. They can also be used as bulk capacitors for high temperature camera modules.

Solutions for High-Temperature Applications

KYOCERA AVX High-Temperature Capacitors, Thermistors, and Varistors offer high-temperature solutions for a broad range of applications, including power conversion, RF transient voltage suppression, board-level miniature bulk capacitance, high voltage, and small-signal. Product families range from miniature SMT/leaded ceramics and stacked ceramic capacitors to traditional and wet tantalum capacitors, varistors, and high Q RF capacitors. KYOCERA AVX offers multiple high-temperature devices with collective parameters as small as a 0603 case size, components that can operate as hot as +250°C, voltage ratings up to 125V, and capacitance up to 3000µF.
