MLCC Replacement Solutions

KEMET KOCAP Tantalum Polymer Capacitors are ideal for board space savings, a piezo noise-free environment, high capacitance, long stable life performance, and/or lower profile requirements. Tantalum polymer capacitors are selected over other capacitor technologies when application voltages are less than 50V, capacitance needs are between 1µF to 1mF, and application frequencies are below 1MHz. Since replacing ceramic capacitors with tantalum polymer capacitors is not typically one-for-one, designers need to consider several design requirements as outlined in the schematic below.

Solid Tantalum Capacitors

KEMET Solid Tantalum Capacitors are a high-reliability Commercial-Off-the-Shelf (COTS) family of capacitors that provide very low ESR and high surge current capabilities. These surface-mount MnO² capacitors cover a range of applications, including industrial, automotive, defense, and space-grade options.

T493 / T497 COTS Capacitors

KEMET T493 and T497 Series COTS MnO2 Capacitors are designed for the Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) requirements of military, aerospace, and medical applications. The surface mount COTS Capacitors are highly reliable with standard ESR and symmetrical, compliant terminations. The capacitors (CWR11 style) are tested with Group A of MIL-PRF-55365. KEMET's T497 Series COTS MnO₂ Capacitors are high grade, COTS versions of CWR09, 19, and 29 products and were developed using conservative design characteristics to produce a very robust capacitor with low leakage current capabilities. The T497 features 100% thermal shock.
