Surge Protection Devices

Bourns Surge Protective Devices (SPDs) protect sensitive equipment from damage caused by lightning and electrical transient surges. These protective devices integrate discrete circuit protection devices into an assembly or system that provides enhanced functionality and protection. Based on Bourns' expertise in discrete circuit protection, the SPD product line includes protective devices for AC systems, DC power systems, signal data line circuits, and coaxial networks/CATV. Bourns SPDs protect various electronic, electrical, data communication, and telecommunication equipment.

Circuit Protection Devices

Bourns manufactures and supplies a wide range of circuit protection technologies, including fuses, PTC thermistors, varistors, GDTs, resettable thermal cut-offs, surge protection devices, hybrid protectors, discrete semiconductor solutions, and more. Reliable surge protection is a critical design consideration to help ensure operational reliability of consumer electronics, industrial/communication equipment, automotive, battery charging, energy storage infrastructure, and renewable energy harvesting ecosystems.

1250A General Duty AC Surge Protective Devices

Bourns 1250A General Duty AC Surge Protective Devices (SPDs) offer a 150V to 690V operating voltage range and large surge energy capability of up to 50kA per mode. These devices are designed to protect high-risk electrical service entrances and branch panels and are intended to be installed at the front end of the installation in the main switchboard. 1250A series devices can be configured for common and differential-mode protection in single- and three-phase applications. Bourns 1250A General Duty AC SPDs suit all power circuits, heavy industrial applications, and EV charging stations.
